Day 169

Palette Knife Color Notan 3, 4 x 4 inch oil on canvas
© 2012 Kathleen Coy

Today's painting is another little notan, where I'm just playing around with light and dark patterns and color with no real objective other than to make something pleasing, and to practice painting with the knife. In case you missed it, I'm doing a few of these little studies this week for my daily paintings because of time constraints, as so far they only take about fifteen minutes each.

  1. Hi Kathleen! I enjoy to see every painting you make! I have paint just a little bit but I really love to use the knife. I was lucky to get lots of materials that used to be my painter grandfather and mother. In my grandfater's stuff was a knife to mix the colours - then I didn't know that it's for mixing and I made few paintings using only that. Merry Christmas to you! x Teje

    1. Hi Teje! Thank you so much! And how wonderful that you got your grandparents painting materials. That makes them extra special. I'm glad you got to paint with a knife. One of my favorite things about painting with a knife is there are no brushes to clean. :-)
Best wishes, and Merry Christmas to you!
      Kathleen
