I was just sort of playing around here, trying to create a sense of movement. Channeling my inner David Shevlino if you will, although nobody can do it like he can. (Fantastic artist, check him out if you aren't familiar with his work!) I took the reference photo for this painting two summers ago at the Carson Rodeo, in Carson, Iowa.
Great job in creating a sense of movement and energy! I like the way you did the background with just shapes of color. Love this!
ReplyDeleteYou certainly captured the movement without sacrificing draftsmanship. This is a great one! And thanks for the link to Shevlino's web site. Have you studied with him?
ReplyDeleteLinda and Susan, thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteSusan, David Shevlino teaches workshops, but I haven't studied with him. I do, however, have several of his DVDs, which are quite good. It's so interesting to watch him paint!
Loose and energetic, Kathleen! Love the action blur on the back feet in particular!
ReplyDeleteI too am a fan of Shevlino.
What action! Fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThank you Dean and Allison! This one was a pretty fun experiment!
