Day 232

Mugshot: Don, 4 x 4 inch oil on panel
© 2013 Kathleen Coy

This mug is my dear friend Don, and I think it's one of my best to date. There is something about painting men that I really like... maybe it's their thicker, more textured skin and well defined features, or maybe it's just trying to capture that masculine essence in a painting that I enjoy. I think it's both.

PS. I'm giving myself tomorrow off. Details Thursday.

  1. Very nice! I love the touches of blues and greens in his skin. You are always good at getting a lot of detail in the 4x4 format. Your mugs are always fun to see!

  2. This is really nice. I feel like I could recognize him if I saw him, and yet it has a beautiful painterly look. Love your color choices!

  4. Thank you all so much, I'm really pleased with this one. And yes, 4 x 4 inch is tiny. It even amazes me how much information one can manage on such a small format.
